Dental Problems Can Develop Early

Baby Teeth

Unfortunately, the potential for tooth decay starts the moment the first tooth erupts. Baby Bottle Tooth Decay (BBTD) is a common, but preventable problem many parents in the Campbell area are facing. Dr. Barrera believes that allowing children to sleep with a bottle filled with any sugary liquid including formula, milk, breast milk or juice can lead to BBTD. Even breast feeding mothers should be concerned with tooth decay. If you allow your child to fall asleep while on the breast, tooth decay can occur. And once your child starts eating solid foods, frequent sweets or sticky foods can cause decay and should be avoided.

Start good habits including dental visits with Dr. Barrera. He can help your child develop strong, healthy teeth and give you suggestions on how to prevent BBTD.

Don't Forget to Floss!

Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner. Decay-causing bacteria can hid between teeth where toothbrush bristles can't reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between teeth and under the gum line.
